Valve knowledge & awareness is very important to the industry. Valve traceability, valve warranty, and liability are extremely important when purchasing valves.

Classification 1   

Manufacturer Warranted With MTR’S- Valve has been purchased direct from the manufacturer or directly through an authorized distributor for the manufacturer. The valve manufacturer will warrant the product in the event the valve has service failures (pending inspection) in the field. The MTR from the manufacturer identifies full traceability of chemical composition and date when the valve was manufactured.

Classification 2  

Surplus Warranted With MTR’S – (Beware) Valve has been purchased from a supply house, job site, an auction, a surplus valve dealer, etc.….This valve Does Not carry a manufacturer’s warranty. In some cases, the vendor selling the valve does offer a warranty on the valve. If the valve has a service failure in the field, the valve could be warranted by the vendor (pending inspection). The valve manufacturer Does Not carry any level of responsibility to the warranty of surplus valves. This valve can be referenced different ways – Factory New Surplus, Unused Surplus, New Surplus, Used Surplus, Reconditioned Surplus, etc.…MTR’S may be available for this valve and this information should be requested at time of quotation for warranty and traceability purposes.

Classification 3

Surplus Warranted No MTR’S – (Beware) Valve has been purchased from a supply house, job site, and auction, a surplus valve dealer, etc…..This valve Does Not carry a manufacturer’s warranty. In some cases, the vendor selling the valve does offer a warranty on the valve. If the valve has a service failure in the field, the valve could be warranted by the vendor (pending inspection). *When purchasing valves, specify your valve classification requirements on order acknowledgments and purchase orders to vendors.

*MTR Definition = Material Test Report from the manufacturer.
